Colts Face Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action
Guten tag, fussball fans. How are you? Everything good I hope on this fine early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (three wins and five losses). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the initial in the capital city.
Pregame Key Moments
As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from Katarina Witt on the coin toss. A slight fluff from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.
So, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in their last game?
Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.
Opening Period Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
Here we go! And we have early drama after the Colts running back receives a short throw, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to save his bacon with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as the wide receiver fails to catch a fastball from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Touchdown Recap
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and fumbles the football.
An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
