Palestinian-American Teenager Liberated After 270 Days in Israel's Detention

A American-Palestinian adolescent who spent nine months in Israel's custody absent formal charges has been freed.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 at the time of his arrest in February throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing from his Florida home accused of stone-throwing against settlement residents, claims he consistently denied.

American diplomatic officials said it welcomed Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care right after being freed, according to close relatives.

Family described him as visibly pale and thin, and is suffering from conditions acquired while detained.

In a statement, family spokesperson conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.

"At this moment, we're concentrating on providing Mohammed with urgent medical care necessary for his recovery after experiencing Israel's abuse and inhumane conditions throughout his detention."

US officials stated they would maintain to extend consular services to Mohammed's family.

{"US government authorities has no higher priority to the protection and welfare for United States citizens"," the department emphasized.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers had signed a letter to the state department and the White House, demanding more be done for his freedom.

Mohammed's parent, with four children operating an ice cream shop from Florida, previously said his child admitted guilt about rock throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

There were no visits or spoken to Mohammed since February, and only heard regarding the treatment through judicial records.

The teenager remained without charge within Ofer penitentiary in the West Bank.

It is also home to mature inmates, some of whom have been convicted for major terrorist activities including killings.

There are around several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, per correctional service statistics.

Numerous remain uncharged along with monitoring agencies, and international organizations, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting seeking justice for their relative Sayfollah Musallet.

This young American-Palestinian according to health authorities succumbed to assault by Israeli settlers following tensions in July.

During that period, military authorities reported authorities were looking into accounts of a Palestinian had died.

Both young men collaborated in the family ice cream shop from Tampa.

No one has been charged for the cousin's murder.

"We anticipate US authorities to safeguard our relatives," family representatives emphasized.
