Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the dying moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
