World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of High Performance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Statistics

Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She earned almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".

Other WTA Award Winners

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking extended hiatus after the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and climbing to the eighteenth spot.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after securing their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third time.
