The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The latest Far Cry title that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for delighting in violence and madness with equal excitement, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two visionaries whose projects have exemplified all of those things.
Show Details
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game series, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a new backdrop and group of personalities in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their ongoing confidence and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” noted Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the essence of people through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our shared bold, daring style to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
