Presence Film
The acclaimed director tests his creative boundaries with this clever paranormal narrative captured wholly from the viewpoint of a ghost. After a clan including mother Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe occupies their fresh home, the filming device – as the unseen entity – shadows their actions. The teen shows signs of aware of the ghostly being, and the entity appears protective of her. However, the motive remains? This is an entertaining concept that doesn't outstay its welcome, with a twist that could catch you off guard. October 11th, afternoon and evening times, the Sky channel

The Black Phone
The director's contained scarefest remains effective without requiring a sequel. Taking place in 1970s Colorado, multiple kidnappings has left the local kids anxious. Yet the non-functional line on the wall continues to ring, with eerie communicators offering help, and the prophetic visions of Gwen, his sister might rescue him. A solid creepfest. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for materialism in Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top true story of the disgraced TV preacher and her criminal husband. Andrew Garfield portrays the greedy Jim, who declares early on, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals set about capitalizing on the nation's spiritual convictions. It's a riot of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and bad faith, yet Chastain succeeds to present Tammy Faye in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, late night, Film4
